This is one of the possible first run data entry forms for an Alpine event. It can also be used on the hill as a start list and for record keeping at the finish. (Cells with red fonts indicate that the cells are locked and cannot be edited. The sheet can be unlocked using the F12 key. The cells are locked to prevent inadvertent typos. The sheets always print in black and white regardless of font color.)
Manual data entry in Valiant requires you to enter all times as integers. There is no need to enter any colons or decimals. In manual data entry Valiant understands minutes but not hours. If you are scoring a Nordic tournament to a degree of accuracy of full seconds, and you are manually entering times, you must enter the finish times as the number of minutes and seconds that a run took (a time of 1 hour 37 minutes 22 seconds would be entered as “9722”. Valiant will format the number to 97:22). If you are scoring an Alpine event to 1/1000 second and a racer took 1 minute 48.257 seconds you would enter the time as “148257” and Valiant will format the time as “1:48.257”.
If you are directly downloading times from a timer, Valiant truncates the times to the degree of accuracy that you indicated in the race setup.
In Alpine events: When a time comes in from the timer, Valiant relates the time to a bib number and remembers it. When a finish time comes in, the event sheet is searched for the bib number and the net time is pasted into the cell for that bib for the correct run. The TAG CP520 and CP705 send bib numbers along with the related time back to the computer. With the other supported timers, a "Control Console" dialog box keeps track of the run order, and the on-course list.
