 Team Scoring and Tournament Results

When you score team results, a dialog box will come up asking you if you need to penalize a team.  Penalties are in points or seconds (depending on your race setup).

If your event consists of mixed gender teams and you need to score a minimum number of females in the team scoring, you would use the "Team Scoring" command first and then the "Mandatory Gender Scoring" command.  When you register racers for that type of event, the female contestants are entered in "Bold" font.  The program can then tell which racers are female.  The number of females that must count in the scoring is optional and is entered into a dialog box when the command is run.

This is how the Team Results print out looks.  Note that the Northern team and the Southern team have tied through 4 scoring racers.  The "Tournaments Totals" command will attempt to break the tie by determining the scores of the 5th and if necessary the 6th racers on these teams.

The following is a screen shot of the Tournament results for a two event tournament.  If there are additional events they would be added in.  The program imports the scores of the first two non-scoring racers for each team.  In this example, since the meet was scored by finish position, the program has imported the finish positions of the 5th and 6th place racers.  If there was a tie between teams, the program checks to see which team involved in the tie had the best total for their 5th place racers (cumulative total for all events).  If there is still a tie, the program then checks the 6th place racer total.  If the program is able to break the tie, the team with the higher score is awarded 1/10 point on this sheet in the Final Standings column and the team then drops out of the tie.

Another team scoring option is the Dual Meet Breakdown.  Example:  If you are running a tournament with 6 teams, each team can be scored one against the other while the other teams are ignored.  This is handy when scoring meets by total finish position of the scoring racers.  (When scoring by total time it is unnecessary to use the dual meet breakdown.)  Each dual meet pairing may be saved within the race file on its own spreadsheet.  The Dual Meet breakdown is not available when using Minnesota scoring.
