The Valiant Ski Scoring program is an add-in program that runs under Microsoft Excel (version 2000 and above).  The program originated 14 years ago when I started to write some macros for Microsoft Excel to automate the repetitive tasks of adding, subtracting and sorting run times and competitor data in Excel.  Over the years the program has grown to include more than 75 menu commands and over 60 dialog boxes to help you through the registration process, insert blind draw running orders, determine the second run start orders and actually scoring a tournament in many different ways.  For cross country, you can merge racers from different score sheets into a single composite start sheet (men and women or varsity and JV can be combined into a single blind draw start list but are kept separate for scoring purposes).  Cross country start "groups" are supported.  Valiant supports dual-course timing and can be multi-tasked.  Special scoring for Minnesota and Michigan high school meets is supported.

Valiant does not require you to purchase a new copy of the software every year.  There is no "dongle" (software lock) that you must attach to your computer to insure that you buy a new copy every year.  Your license for Valiant allows you to load the program on more than one computer.  You may install Valiant on your home computer (where you might perform race registration) on a laptop to be used at the slalom hill and on a laptop used at the bottom of the GS hill.  That's OK.  On race day, the only file that has to move between the machines is the Excel file that is the actual race file.  Later, the file from the GS hill can be copied to the Slalom computer and the GS race data transferred to the slalom file (using a menu command).  The meet can then be scored on a single computer for tournament totals (teams) and/or combined totals (for individuals).  The license does not allow you to give the program to other people (including other coaches in your league).  I remind you that everyone standing on skis is standing on equipment that costs several times what this software costs.  You may be a coach or ski school race director.  Have your school or company buy the software.  It doesn't cost that much and 99% of the time, it isn't your money anyway.

You may download the Shareware version of the program from the "Valiant Order Form" page.  The shareware version does not support timer communication and does not come with instructions.

The current version of Valiant is 2009.  Upgrades to the program include support for the Microgate Racetime 2 and enhanced error checking and ease of use.

* The Timy is supported for serial port communication only.
